Melissa coached me through NLP processes over the course of a few weeks. She was prepared, professional, and adept at NLP coaching. She created a safe space to complete this work with her positive attitude, compassion, and openness. While it entailed some work, it was a delightful experience that left me feeling lighter, more confident, and in control of my own destiny. I recommend this work to anyone who wants some new tools in their tool box to improve things in their lives.
The first process Like to Dislike, my goal was to break a habit of drinking Diet Pepsi every day. Since completing this process, I have not had any Diet Pepsi, even though it is in my refrigerator because other members of my family drink it. It has been at least three months. I don’t even think about it anymore.
Other processes that I found to be helpful were belief change and removing negative emotion. With belief change, I transformed from thinking “I’m not good enough” to “I am f’ing awesome”. When I begin to think thoughts related to “I’m not good enough”, I can quickly recall “I am f’ing awesome” to replace those thoughts. We also working to remove negative emotions such as anger, sadness, fear, and hurt. Those emotions have been greatly diminished for me. Journaling about each of those processes and being able to recall the lessons in the few instances that I have triggered has been tremendously helpful. I find that I don’t get as charged by these emotions when they happen.
The parts integration process was the most challenging process for me. The parts I was integrating were the part of me feels safe and the part of me does not. It wasn’t until after I completed the parts integration and journaled on it that I fully realized these two parts were really working together to steer me towards overall alignment.
During the course of our work together, I began remembering my dreams again. Melissa shared a dream interpretation workbook with me that is really valuable in helping to get the messages from dreams. I also felt lighter and was able to moderate my reactions to situations to take a pause and think about why I was reacting the way I was. In the instances where I forgot to do that, I could reflect on my journal entries from our work together to help to understand why I reacted in a certain way and what I might do differently in the future. It has brought much awareness to my reactions and behaviors.
Before our last session (which I didn’t realize was our last session), I began to feel “done” with the processes. The order in which they are completed felt like a natural progression. I am excited to see how the Strategic Visioning process turns out, which was the last process we worked through. Given the success I’ve had with the other processes, I am confident that I will achieve the goals I have set for myself. I spend a few minutes each morning reflecting on those goals and working with an oracle card deck to ask what I can do each day to achieve my vision. Melissa also shared a visioning meditation that I am beginning to incorporate in my morning routine. Also, she shared a song “Fly” by Nicki Minaj that was playing in the background when we did this process. It is so aligned with my strategic vision and is now a regular song on my playlist.
